At first, I thought Krispy Krunchy Chicken was another fried chicken fast food knock off, but after trying the food it reminds me of something like a Popeyes meets KFC. They're nothing close to the mediocrity of Kennedy Fried Chicken but they're not at the standard that I would put over any of the more popular fast food chicken eateries.

Turns out KKC is quite well established. In fact, the business has been around for nearly 30 years nationwide and Woodside just happens to be the recipient of one fo the few locations in NYC. I should probably feel lucky in some way, but I am still not as impressed as I should be.

The chicken, as expected is greasy but not seasoned particularly well. I'm in no way expecting life changing chicken at this price, but what looks like the original recipe from KFC is really just a bunch of dry chicken. There was some disappointment on my end, but expectations should always be at its minimum when it comes to these places.

The sides were also a tad disappointing. The "jambalaya" was a laughable (again, dry) chicken bits mixed with a bunch of rice. Seasoning was definitely off. The mac and cheese was as gooey and creamy as it looked, but was still unremarkable.

Their dipping sauces for the chicken on the other hand were surprisingly tasty. The Southern Sweet BBQ and Honey Mustard took the cake for me, followed by a close second of hte Cajun Sweet & Sour. I was the most surprised at their biscuits. Fluffy, sweet with honey, and buttery, yet crumbly to the touch, these pucks of carby goodness reign supreme almost over anything else on their menu.

I've always noted that the fast food scene in NYC has been lesser than most other cities (this is actually a good thing), perhaps I'd give KKC more of a shot when I'm somewhere else. Who am I kidding? I'll likely be back for those sweet glazed biscuits!

We ordered food via a delivery service. The order arrived incorrectly and the delivery man informed my husband that his boss said we live to far. Here's my issue, if we live too far the restaurant should not be listed as willing to deliver to our address. We will not be ordering from them again.
